| Anatol Pikas first exams
at the university were in history and political sciences; the last ones
in psychology and education. He has been trained in Child psychotherapy
and Existential analysis. He became professor in Educational Psychology
and has been employed as visiting professor in Peace Education in the USA,
Germany and Canada.
His first scientific investigations demonstrated the teenagers’ capacity to distinguish between rational and irrational authority of parents. Then he went to cognitive psychology where his main publication was Abstraction and Concept Formation. (Harvard University Press, 1966.) Since late 60’s Anatol Pikas has devoted all his research and method development to education of conflict resolution. His textbook Rational Conflict Resolution (1973) was published in six languages. He was the first one in Europe to give regular university courses in Peace Education and to publish a book on treatment of group bullying translated also into other Scandinavian languages (1975).
